Lubavitch: Are they really the closest thing to Judaism?
I have several friends who are Lubavitch. Many times it seems like we follow different religions. They joke and say Lubavitch is the closest thing to Judaism. I joke and say I think it's really closer to Xianity than Judaism.
Somebody once said every joke has a kernel of truth in it.
One of the more famous Lubavitchers these days is Matisyahu. For those unfamiliar with him, he performs reggae. The question I have is, why has he collaborated with the Xian group POD to appear on their new CD "Testify"? What is it about a Xian rock group that makes it appropriate for a Jew to collaborate with them?
I can't answer it. Perhaps one of my Lubavitch friends can.
Or just maybe, Lubavitch is closer to Xianity than even I realized.

He asked the Rebbe via the internet instant Rebbe response system and the answer was "doing good is a Mivtzah" and since there could be no greater good than collaborate with Xians - cz that's what he wantes to do - so it must be that the Rebbe gave his full agreement!

Come on get in tune with it! Some guy is mekaraved through Lubavitch and does thigns that may or may not be what you would call "orthodox" Judaism and because of that a whole sect of Judasim is like Xianity!
I think that is a little arfetched. I could go into great detail about people tat associate yourself with religiously and what they may or may not be doing. But, I don't want to talk negative about Jews.
Aren't we Jewish! Don't we have a mitzvah to love one another regardless of the crazy things one may do. Lets work on doing Hashem's mitzvos and after we have perfected all of them, we can work on transgressing them.
